The place where General de Gaulle was born in Lille in 1890, his mother’s house, was restored in time for the highly symbolic reopening on 18 June 2005.
The layout was redesigned, whilst areas of "educational understanding" were created to help visitors understand how people lived in the late nineteenth century.
Two areas complete a visit to the house: a multimedia centre and temporary exhibition hall providing more information on de Gaulle’s life and work.
