Palais Rihour - Conclave hall

Built between 1453 and 1473 (commissioned by Philippe le Bon, third Duke of Burgundy) only a few vestiges remain today of a much larger building which was a masterpiece of Flemish Gothic architecture. Numerous fires ravaged the Palais du Rihour throughout its history. The only areas to have escaped the flames was a small octagonal brick tower, the guard room with its beautifully vaulted ceiling, and the brick and stone chapel or "conclave hall". A flamboyant Gothic style staircase which spirals upwards completes the scene.
