Originally Chaillot, Passy and Auteuil were three distinct villages situated between Versailles and Paris. In the 18th century these communes were home to beautiful chateaux and charming countryside villas, until the Haussman renovation projects which changed the city's face.

After this point the three were integrated into the city, an extension of the 17th arrondissement, to become three of the most lavish and prestigious residential areas in Paris. With the Palais de Chaillot, the Eiffel Tower and the countless luxury boutiques that line the sidewalks, this is an attractive and lucrative area. Then there is Auteuil with the Parc des Princes stadium, Roland-Garros and the Pierre de Coubertin stadium, making it an unmissable neighbourhood for all sports-enthusiasts.

Prestigious cultural establishments (such as the Museum of Man, the Maritime Museum, the Guimet Museum and the Paris Museum of Modern Art, together with the numerous embassies nearby, confer an even greater status of prestige to this district.
