The art house cinema and film library which is the Cinémathèque resides in the building which was originally designed by the architect Frank Gehry. The building which was given the nickname "dancer showing her tutu" by its designer, has a park side facade and a reception area which show off brilliant tricks of space and light and contrast with the white stone elevation on the rue de Bercy side. The Cinémathèque is a space dedicated to cinema with screenings, exhibitions, conferences, and so on. In the Cinémathèque Museum which is located within this magnificent building, the visitor can wander through the history (and pre-history) of cinema. Discover the treasures contained within the collections of French film archives: optical instruments, cameras, magic lanterns, mythical costumes, posters, shoot documents and cult objects... Over the course of this cinematic journey, accompanied by many film extracts, you will meet some of the greatest names in cinema, from Charlie Chaplin and Alfred Hitchcock to Fritz Lang and Luis Buñuel.
