Notre-Dame-des-Doms Cathedral in Avignon

Close to the Palais des Papes and the Petit Palais Museum, the Notre-Dame des Doms Cathedral in Avignon stretches out over the Rhone. The building was constructed in the 12th century and was decorated with murals at the end of the Middle Ages. The artist who painted the frescoes on the entryway is none other than Simone Martini from Sienna.
From the top of the Notre-Dame des Doms Cathedral bell tower, admire the golden Virgin Mary who has reigned over Avignon since 1859.
