Musée du Santon et traditions de Provence
Located near the town of Isle-sur-Sorgue, at Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, the Museum of Santons and traditions of Provence features over 2000 items including 39 figurines made of walnut shell.
The Santon is a specialty which comes from Provence. This is a small religious figure for the Christmas nativity scene or crib, which is shaped in clay or wax, a tradition which originated in the region in the seventeenth century.
The museum also has around sixty nativity scenes on display.
