Partly built on piers at the beginning of the thirteenth century, the cathedral of Saint-Pierre Saint-Paul de Troyes is a little-known masterpiece characteristic of Gothic architecture.Its facade, with its three flamboyant doorways, is the work of Martin Chambiges, the famous sixteenth century master stonemason from Paris.It was intended to have a tower for each of the saints, but the tower of St. Paul has lain unfinished since 1545.The 1500 m² of stained glass windows dating from the thirteenth to the nineteenth century make of the Cathedral Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul in Troyes a fantastic picture book for studying the evolution of the art of stained glass over the centuries. Behind a large rosette of 8 meters in diameter are the Great Organs which come from the Abbey of Clairvaux.
