A botanical garden, arboretum and park, the Arquebuse, which houses the natural history museum, is an exceptional combination of landscaping and education. It extends over five and a half hectares, two of which are dedicated to the botanical garden. A separate enclosure is devoted to medicinal plants.Each year, the garden, which is considered one of the world’s foremost botanical gardens, publishes in Latin the Index Seminum, a catalogue listing nearly 2,500 varieties of plants, sending seeds to some 600 other gardens and botanical or agronomic research institutions throughout the world.
