Near to Basilica of Notre-Dame-du-Port in Clermont-Ferrand, visit

Built in the twelfth century, Notre-Dame-du-Port is still home to a Black Madonna. This harmonious building was decorated, like all religious buildings at that time, with exterior wall paintings which have been lost over the centuries. Today, you can appreciate the pure and simple lines of the stone Romanesque basilica. Before entering the church, on the southern side, look out for the richly carved entrance depicting a Madonna and Child and Christ appearing to the disciples.
