Built in the harbour district, the Clermont-Ferrand basilica is located in the centre of the old city. Listed as UNESCO Heritage, this Roman basilica sits atop a crypt. The building was reconstructed in the eleventh and twelfth centuries after its foundations collapsed. Notice its Black Virgin, to whom several religious processions are dedicated during the year, its Stone Virgin from the fifteenth century or the southern gate of the church. The chevet shows the skilfulness in Roman arts of Auvergne people, especially the sculptors.
