The Pyrenean Museum presents the arts and popular traditions from the areas in and around the mountain range in a building symbolising the history of the city of Lourdes: a fortified castle.
Founded by Louis and Margalide Le Bondidier in 1921, its eighteen rooms and outdoor areas display the main aspects of Pyrenean culture: Bigorre furnishings, Bearn cuisine, traditional dress, models of typical houses, pottery, furniture from the former Saint-Pierre de Lourdes Church, etc.
Temporary exhibitions explore a particular part of this rich cultural legacy.
Since 2002, it has been part of France’s network of museums.
