St. Jean's Church

In the 11th century, the Eglise de Saint-Jean in Libourne bore the name Saint-Jean-de-Fozera.
Around 1110, this building was given to the Saint-Emilionmonastery. At the beginning of the 15th century, its plain nave, around 20 metres long and 7 metres wide, was enlarged and refurbished in Gothic style. The church was then dedicated to Saint Jean-Baptiste.
Over the course of the 19th century, new building works were undertaken. And so the windows to the chancel, until then walled-up, were re-opened in 1845. In addition, the bell tower was built a short time after.
