Paris by Boat

Paris by Boat viaFrance Notre-Dame-de-Paris

From Paris to Paris

The River Seine has played an undeniable role in the development and rise of the City of Light. It is now one of its most endearing charms. Aboard a bateau mouche, vedette or Batobus (river shuttles), admire the magnificence of the left and right banks. The slender silhouette of the Eiffel Tower has been watching over the Seine since 1889 and the sleek Quai Branly Museum since just 2006.
The obelisk on Place de la Concorde, the sculptures and gilding of Pont Alexandre III and the glasswork of the Grand Palais are soon followed by the Musée d'Orsay and the Louvre Museum. After Pont Neuf, the Conciergerie and Renaissance façade of Paris's city hall or Hôtel de Ville evoke political power over the centuries. The shadow of Quasimodo continues to loom over the gargoyles of Notre-Dame. The sculptures in Jardin Tino Rossi point to the new face of Paris, from Bercy to the French National Library via the Docks en Seine.
