Belgium began a long footballing decline in 2004, when the national team failed to qualify for the Euro in the same year, despite a good run in World Cup two years earlier. Since then, little or nothing. No World Cup 2006 or 2010. No Euro 2008 either. The task looks daunting for a team that has lost momentum.Georges Leekens, former Belgian international and player for Bruges took over in May 2010 with the primary mission of getting the Red Devils to qualify for Euro 2012. Alas, the country failed once again to qualify for the big competition.In September 2012, Belgium will launch a campaign to qualify for the 2014 World Cup due to take place in Brazil. They will face Wales, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia and Scotland.
