Royal Museums of Ancient and Modern Art

Located on the Mont des Arts, the Royal Museums of Fine Art, divided into the Museum of Ancient Art and the Museum of Modern Art are worth a visit as much for the buildings as for the art itself. Work by Flemish artists are on display at the Museum of Ancient Art and the great artists of the 19th and 20th centuries, such as Magritte and David, are to be found at the Modern Art Museum. These wonderful collections comprise more than 20,000 works presented in two seperate buildings offering different architectural interests (note the beams of light at the Modern Art Museum). However, one of the principal objectives is to assure a sense of continuity throughout the visits between the different eras.
