Originally, the park was the medicinal garden of nearby Saint Elisabeth Hospital. Today, Antwerp’s Botanical Garden is open to everyone so we can all enjoy the green oasis, which is home to 2,000 species. In the centre of the park, there’s even a greenhouse in which you can see exotic plants like cactuses.
